Because these 7 elements in ASL discourse have not been addressed in the teaching of ASL to non-native users, this workshop will introduce this unique aspect of ASL discourse which are called “expansion” and “compression”.
This workshop is intended to describe these features for the purpose of teaching students of both ASL and interpreting to recognize some differences in discourse styles between English and ASL.

This workshop has 8 lessons. Each lesson has 4 “expansion” and “compression” videos to model these features. Also this workshop is filled with many “text illustrated” examples beside the 61 video clips to aid in teaching the Interpreter Discourse.
